103206 2002-12-04 01:21:00 I ams setting up a Bare bones system Based on an Asus P4333-vf Mother board.
It has a P4 2.26Hz
Maxtor 60 gb
256m DDR
I installed Windows ME ok
then Errors of various types Followed by Registry problems
I reformated the disk and tried reinstalling ME. No Luck
Had a 1.01 Gb quantum fireball in the toybox replaced the maxtor with this and ME installed OK
Took the Maxtor back to Harvey Norman they tested and declared ok and loaded windows on it. they deleted me. Took it home and still had my problem

as follws:-
Set up scan disk reports Fats do not match fix this
Setup runs through-
Please wait while set up Initializes
Scanning sytem registry
Copying files needed for system setup
Packed file is Corrupt
E:\>

this is the current set of symptoms previously have had hangs at either
scanning sytem registry or Copying files needed for sytem setup

Have run all maxtor Diagnostics expet low level format without errors
Have tried the disk in my working Compaq and it does the same
Have emailed Asus and had no response to date

Any clues
Thanks

103207 2002-12-04 02:40:00 I suspect it's yr ME CD itself... :) SKT174 (1319)
103208 2002-12-04 03:31:00 You can check your CD with a command like "xcopy d:\*.* nul: /s". The "nul:" device is the "bit bucket" = nowhere. That will try to copy all files, and complain about any errors it finds. Graham L (2)
