103099 2002-12-03 22:20:00 When installing Win98 on a PC, the USB Root Hub comes up (In the system Properties/Device manager) saying "The NTKERN.VXD device loader(s) for this device could not lead the device driver (Code 2)"

What can I do to get it to work?

Cheers

103100 2002-12-03 22:49:00 This problem was even more common with Win95 plus USB. Have a look at this MS Knowledge Base (things are harder to find now as they are changing the article numbers).

103101 2002-12-03 23:00:00 Wow - the MS site doesnt work well in Phoenix so for the first time in weeks I hadto load up IE6, it was scary.. ;)

I followed the steps, and even did NTKERN.VXD too after a reboot to find nothing new... But still it says that same message?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

103102 2002-12-04 00:44:00 Well... the only things I can think of if you are running Win98SE, is to extract ntkern.vxd from the Win CD and put it into both c:\windows\system and c:\windows\system\vmm32. Else, disable USB in the BIOS, remove USB hub from device manager, re-boot, make sure everything else is going OK, then try re-enabling USB in BIOS re-boot, and see what happens. Terry Porritt (14)
