my spec's:

Isn't that a video card and not a capture card?

It has VIVO (Video In Video Out) function so you can capture anything that feeds thru the Video In channel. :D

103358 2002-12-05 01:46:00 My MX4 460 has VIVO. Works OK, but not a cheap solution that he was asking for. godfather (25)
103359 2002-12-05 02:25:00 Microstar have recently released a PCI TV/Video Capture Card that is quite cheap and also good brand. Seen them for about $150inc. - can't remember where though. :(

Can use it to watch TV on your PC or capture video/sound from other inputs on it. It also comes with a video recorder software so you can use your PC like a VCR machine! Choosing what quality to record at etc including MPEG4.

103360 2002-12-05 19:56:00 has anyone here done it? (transferred video to their pc?)

what kinds of software do you need? also, how does the audio fit into it?

103361 2002-12-05 20:07:00 I have copied some VHS taped versions of old 8mm family movies.
Didn't need sound, so didn't connect the cable to the sound card, I can only assume it would have worked had there been sound.

Hard to judge quality given the source, but at least it has preserved them at that point forever.

I used my GF 4 MX460 card, Video in feature, but I could also have used my TV card which has video in. TV card is only good for 640 x 480 though.

You need plenty of processor grunt. A PIII 667 MHz chip is not enough, I tried it in my previous PC, but very jerky. P4 2.0 Ghz OK.

I used Intervideo Wincoder to record, it came with my G4 card.
