103367 2002-12-04 22:17:00 Hi, I am cannot burn cdrws. I have no problem with cdrs. I have used win 98, win2k and xp all result the same. I use nero5.9. I have tried many different media with the same result. Also Incd has never worked on any o/s i have had. I lately reinstalled 2k and loaded nero and incd as the only program. As usual incd would not format disks. I am sick of expensive coasters, can any one help or point me to a info resource? Thanks. grg35 (618)

>I am sick of expensive coasters

If you're trying to format CDR/W disks they can be reformatted on another PC, it's only CDRs that are ruined by bad data. I dpn't mean to bu insulting, but you are buying CDRW disks aren't you?

103370 2002-12-04 23:58:00 Make sure thay you buy the good quality brand too, especially InCD doesnt like cheapo CD's in my experience. Try getting a different brand of CD-RW next time you're out shopping.

I had similar troubles, once I switched to a more expensive branded CD-RW, it was smooth sailing!

103371 2002-12-05 01:48:00 Maybe you should learn how to express yourself in writing otherwise, no body could understand what you are actually trying to say. Remember, you have to explain your problems clearly and systematically so that others can understand (your problems) and hopefully solve your problems.

Pardon me for being direct to the point; don't feel offended though.

Cheers

103372 2002-12-05 02:32:00 You have used many different brands of media, you have tried different operating systems and you still can't burn re-writable disks using Nero or InCD.

To me this sounds like either a faulty CD writer or you are not doing it correctly. Could you tell us the name of the CD writer, the brands of disks you have tried and tell us how you have gone about it. I'm sure it is probably something simple but we really do need a bit more information. :-)

103373 2002-12-05 02:35:00 One other thing: how do you know they are "coasters"? Do they not work in your CD writer, ie can you not see the files on them? Susan B (19)
103374 2002-12-05 03:55:00 have u tried the same cdrw discs on a friends computer? I had the same problem with transonic discs then i tried the discs on a cd writer drive that had a higher write speed limit and it worked! That was weird, cos on the disc it said 10x, so i assumed it could handle upto 10x on my 8x drive, but no, then i tried it on a 12x drive and it worked. Can't find the logic behind that but maybe u bought a disc that was designed for a higher speed. But anyway try the same disc(s) on a friend/neighbour's cdrw drive.

103375 2002-12-05 04:54:00 You cant make a coaster from a CDRW unless you break it.

Sounds like a faulty drive. My DVD100i just had to be replaced after 11 months of operation. It wrote fine to DVD+RW and CD-R but would only produce errors on CD-RW disks. I sent it back and they sent me a replacement drive.

Well theoretically, it can become a coaster after all the dye and crystals have been used for a long time, tho the chances are very slim, it can't be a coaster in ur case . a CDRW becomes a coaster after u have burned to it for a 1000 sessions . This varies with other cdrw but overall they "die" out or become coaster after a very, very long time . Each time u write to a cdrw, then erase or format its contents then its limit shortens .
