103694 2002-12-06 21:59:00 Check how much free drive spave you have on your primary (windows) partition. Windows likes to have a fair bit of space to move, if yah know what I mean:) tango (2697)
103695 2002-12-06 22:48:00 Try opening System Monitor (Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Monitor) to see the usage of your processor. If System Monitor isn't in the Start menu you may need to install it from the Windows CD. A program may be hogging the processor at a certain time.

Windows can only use up to 256MB of RAM, so after that it will use virtual memory which slows your computer down significantly, as a hard drive is nowhere as quick as RAM, no matter how fast the drive is. If you have any programs that hog RAM you will find that they may use virtual memory as well, and your computer will really slow. There is no real fix to this except upgrading to Windows XP.

103696 2002-12-06 23:21:00 I recently reloaded winXP on my machine.:)
After loading several progies on, when I clicked on Analyze in the Disk Defrag it seriously needed a defrag. Nothing was where it should have been.
After your next reformat, try a Defrag. Better safe then sorry. :D

103698 2002-12-07 00:05:00 Well well well, it seems to have all gone away except at startup, when loading all the programs! Much of the problem went away after I disabled task scheduler...
