103476 2002-12-05 19:50:00 Thanks CYaBro

In the meantime I will prepare for plan two, just in case.

Last Christmas I very carefully rewired my entire phone system in CAT5E as well as installing network outlets in every place that I might conceivably hope to run a computer or ethernet appliance. They all pass through a dedicated wiring hub on the back wall of my office so I can go there and install a timer controlled electronic switch to kill the incoming line during the hours of nod. A plan so cunning........................

Manual switching is OK on a temporary basis, but since I am usually a few braincells short of moron status first thing in the morning I'd probably forget to switch the phones back on.

Cheers

Use some sort of physical reminder - a hair tie around the phone when the bell's on moved to your wrist, toothbrush or coffee pot when it's off.

I came up with this cunning plan after leaving the car lights on for the second time one misty morning (it was fine by the time I parked). But within days of this brilliant idea we sold the car and bought one that beeps when you try to evacuate it.

103478 2002-12-05 20:20:00 We get calls from the UK quite often and they always display as 0000. Except on one occaision when the number was displayed. Does this mean that the technology exisit but is not being utsilised? crozier (2004)
103479 2002-12-05 20:51:00 How about using call minder with instantaneous divert at night? Chris Randal (521)
103480 2002-12-05 21:03:00 Being, as my children are so fond of reminding me, a bear of very little brain, I would probably forget the reminder Heather.

Which makes me think: Growing up in the "just say yes" years, it's a darned good job I didn't indulge in forbidden substances B-) or my memory might be worse than it already is. I'm at the stage where I forget what I've forgotten.

Cheers

103481 2002-12-05 23:36:00 There's a song:
"Do you suffer from long term memory loss?
I can't remember"

103482 2002-12-05 23:50:00 Do you have one of those modem things in your computer? Perhaps you could train it to answer the phone with a recorded greeting saying "Billy is possibly asleep now, hope you enjoy paying for the call.. Bye *******" or something to that effect..

Depends on the nature of your buisness..

I have a greeting on my cellfone that says. "Hi you got the bloody answer phone that vodafone refuse to let me turn off.. I never check it, don't waiste your time leaving a message. I'm hopping that if i ignore it for long enough it will fill up and go away or something. Sorry about this.. Best email me at.........."

103484 2002-12-06 09:22:00 Hi Billy,I did a little checking today and asked a mate in Telecom if caller ID status was sent from overseas, and he said yes,it is.I suggest you push Telecom a bit more and get them to set up a Malicious Call Trace. This should tell them where the call originates from, and if not it will annoy them enough to try and fix the problem(hopefully).Keep on to them, and if you annoy them enough, the problem will get fixed eventually.

I'd say telecon would definitely come to the party if you mention the problem to Mr Plod. I believe there are legal responsibilities. see "malicious calls" near the front of your telephone book.
