| 103363 | 2002-12-05 21:32:00 | I went down this road myself a few months ago. If you are only going to import digital video into your computer youcan pick up a good basic firewire card from h norman h stewart etc for about 100$.If you want to import analogue video as well you need to spend a bit more . I found the easiest solution was to make sure that i bought a digital camera with analogue imput,this means i can connect up my old analogue video camera to my new digital one and convert the tapes straight to digital and from there input to the computer via the firewire card as per normal. A few firewire cards come with basic editing software. I have tried six different basic editing software systems and though they can all do the job the best one i have used is editstudio.The 1.5 version is a free download and the next version about 200$. It is truly capable of some amazing effects. Type editstudio into google and have alook Before doing any editing make sure that you defrag and shut down all running programs except explorer. Be prepared to say goodbye to your family for a while,editing video can be addictive and very time consuming :D |

| 103364 | 2002-12-06 01:19:00 | well, I had a look around, and found the Canopus ADVC-1394 for $675. That's a bit too much:( My geforce card doesn't have video input either...are there any cheaper cards available? (decent ones:) | tango (2697) | ||
| 103365 | 2002-12-06 05:33:00 | Hi I have a 'Pinnacle DV' capture card and it comes with 'Studio' software. Works well. Heaps of on-line support also. Have a butchers at <www.imagingtechnology.co.nz> or <www.mikeshaw.co.uk/> After editing your project can be sent to a fresh tape in your camera, VHS or burnt onto a CD. Yes, DV can be adictive. |
