103338 2002-12-04 21:45:00 Am I being blasphemous or sacrilegious when I ask if TWEAK's information is A+++. RE dw.exe Defrag Windows 1 on first view is vundarbar but then on thinking I do it all now......but to press one button and achieve the same result WOWEEE.

What do you all (nearly) who have much more computer expertise than I have THINK....

Are you referring to our tweak'e? If so, then yes you are! :D

tweak'e finds and posts interesting and hardware and software news from around the web for our benefit and we are free to pick and choose what may be useful to us . I very much doubt that tweak'e would post anything he considered rubbish but as far as I'm aware he does not personally endorse all the items he lists - it is up to us to choose whether to try things or not, at our own risk .

Regarding the defrag program it is true that you already have such a utility with your OS but sometimes these third party utilities can be faster and more efficient than the Microsoft ones . If you're happy with your one, stick with it . :-)

103340 2002-12-05 03:51:00 Back again - I just had another look at that defrag program and can now see what could be so good about it . Did you read about it at all?

This is what it claims to do:

Complete defragmenting consists of 7 steps:

1 . Shutting down running processes .

2 . Disabling and removing the paging file .

3 . Running Windows Scan Disk utility .

4 . Running Windows Defrag utility .

5 . Restarting the running processes .

6 . Enabling paging file .

7 . Restarting/shutting down the PC .

To my mind, if this program does what it says then it could be extremely useful indeed . To run the Windows defrag successfully you have to do all those steps manually yourself . With this program it is just a "one click" to do it all .

A lot of people come here complaining that they can't get their defrag to work for various reasons so this program could be just the cat's whiskers for solving that one .

No, it's not free but for those to whom time is money it could be well worth the price . You are able to try it and see if you like it before buying it .

103341 2002-12-05 04:04:00 Susan, are you being cross at oldaddy76? My reading of his posting makes me think that he's actually applauding . :D

That defragger does look to be pretty good .

oldaddy76 says " WOWEE" . He says that tweak'e is "A+++" . I take those terms as complimentary . ;-)

Blasphemous or sacriligious? We're only Small Gods here . I can't even muster up a thunderbolt . But I have seen smoke from circuit boards . ]:)

103342 2002-12-05 04:17:00 Nay Graham, I'm not being cross with oldaddy - did you notice the big grin? ;-)

I couldn't figure out whether oldaddy was being sarky or not; after all most of the oldaddy's on this forum are undisputed professionals at sarcasm (and yes, I am looking at you from the corner of my eye :D).

He did ask what people here thought though, so I told him. :-)

arrgghh, me dinner's burning!! :O

Hmm...I wonder if she means me?

After all, I can generate multiple sarcasms, I am told.
