2002-12-07 08:23:00 | This is in my boot.ini, in the partition magic folders: [Boot Loader] timeout = 30 Default=C:\ [Operating Systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS = "Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect C:\="Microsoft Windows 98" It defaults to win98. How do I edit it to default to XP? I could take a guess, but don't want to stuff it up.

2002-12-07 10:09:00 | Change Default=C:\ to: Default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT

2002-12-07 10:23:00 | Hmmm Maybe that WINNT should be Windows - I don't use XP.

2002-12-07 23:07:00 | You could right click My Computer, go to Advanced Tab/Start-up & Recovery and use the drop down to select operating system under the Default operating System section. This works in 2k anyhow. Or am I on the wrong track here? A

2002-12-08 01:50:00 | I thought I would confirm this is correct. if you want to edit it manually then [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOW S [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect C:\="Microsoft Windows 98" will work Cheers

2002-12-08 05:43:00 | Not sure if your problem was the same as mine, but mine was solved by reinstalling the OS I wanted as default. In my case XP. The last OS installed on my machine becomes the default | veterannz (960) | |
