I've used Partition Magic to split my drive up. I'm running Windows XP, and I want to reinstall windows and start fresh. Will I lose the partitions I made if I take windows out? |

No, Windows installation will work OK with pre-existing partitions. |

It gets overwritten.
Formatting an NTFS 5.0 drive rewrites the index table which removes references to data location. |

I just did this and the c: drive has the XP boot information and is also the active partition. Not only will XP not be able to boot into XP but you will need to set the partition you want active from FDISK. I ended up formatting the disk and starting again. Make sure you have a boot disk first. |
