| 103857 | 2002-12-07 22:57:00 | Create a bootable floppy (DOS version is not relevant) and modify to take the drivers for the installed network card. Check bootdisk.com (http://bootdisk.com/) for possibilities Boot from it and ping from and to the machine. This tests the network card TCP/IP basics here (www.wown.com) |

| 103859 | 2002-12-07 23:11:00 | all i can think of is that ping has been disabled or blocked somehow. if the network is working why bother fixing it? you may need to remove and reinstall the tcp/ip. make sure there are no leftovers of firewalls and spyware in the system. is client for microsoft networks installed? and does each pc have a log on for it? small trick is to use tweakUI to auto logon the networking and switch primary logon to windows logon.(so windows logons user at startup and tweakUI logons the networking, makes boot up quicker). have you got any of the networking unbound? win98 networking can be so much fun ;-) |
