104272 2002-12-08 10:52:00 anyone know how to get rid of the two tv's with the red cross on them next to the clock on xphome?
they don't seem to perform any great tricks, i'm not networked and I can't see a radio box to tick to remove them.
I did have them removed by disabling them in the device manager, but that just leaves an explamation mark in there!

thanks

104273 2002-12-08 19:05:00 If you mouse over the icon, it will tell you what 'connection' its belong to. Open your network connections ( Start / All Programs / Accessories / Communications / Network Connections). Rightclick on the connection and select properties. Untick the 'Show icon in notification area when connected' box. wuppo (41)
104274 2002-12-08 21:44:00 Thanks Wuppo,
If i just click the Icon it goes to the same place, 'network connections' and it's the local area connection that isn't connected, it has the dreaded cross on it inside the folder (hovering over says 'a network cable is unplugged')
I have my two dial-up connections in that folder both with the 'Show icon in notification area when connected' box ticked and the 'local area connection' one which is, unfortunatly, already unticked!

any other ideas??

104275 2002-12-09 07:23:00 If you disable the network adaptor in device manager, you should get a red cross through the adaptor (in device manager), not a yellow exclamation mark. The yellow exclamation indicates an incorrect driver or insufficiently resourced device.

With the device disabled, the icon in the notification area will go away, and the red cross in device manager is there to remind you that the device is disabled - shouldn't be a problem :)

104276 2002-12-10 06:11:00 you're right wuppo it is just a red cross in the device manager.
so I guess I just put up with that then?

red crosses don't slow the system down do they, comp looking for it to be enabled wise?
