104223 2002-12-09 07:04:00 That will be fantastic for Baldy if Elephant and Crozier could "lend" ;-) that gear to him. If you need any contributions towards delivery to Baldy, just sing out and I'll chip in. :-)

Baldy, I hope you aren't going to turn down this golden opportunity - we want you to stay online, even if it's only mostly for emails!

104225 2002-12-09 07:27:00 Baldy,

Many years ago I drove a Toyota stationwagon. Every 6 months it would remind me it needed a tune by flooding whilst idling. Sitting at the lights you'd have to tap the accelerator a few times to keep it going. There were (inevitably) a few occasions when I'd be off in a dream and forget.

One day, Friday, rush hour traffic, I was heading up Hobson Street to the motorway in the middle lane. The Victoria St lights were red and I was at the front of the queue.

The lights turned green and I started off - only to stall in the middle of the intersection. What made it worse was my cargo - 2 labradors, 1 baby and a trailer full of concrete blocks.

Now the only way to restart was to pull into the side of the road and wait 20 minutes for evaporation to cure the problem. Not easy when you're heading uphill and in the middle lane!

Lights changed - several times - cars swerved past and I was really starting to sweat! Finally an elderly pedestrian came over and offered to push. I took one look at this very frail elderly man and said "You can't - it's far too heavy!"

His reply? "It's OK, once I start others will join in". He was right.

There's been the odd occasion since where I've helped by starting to push someone else and large males have promptly leapt out of their cars and joined in.

Motto? What comes around goes around.

Take Elephant's offer (it's better than the 486) and help someone else in the future.

104228 2002-12-09 10:22:00 If you want the 486 let me know. I'd direct you to my website for the address but seem to have temporarily lost it in my change of host.

(amend the above with the odd @ symbol, full stop and country abbreviation - get too much spam as it is without encouraging more)
