1323350 2013-01-17 15:57:00 I want to go on a trip without my computer and take lots of pictures but want to store my pictures on a Hard Drive, zip drive, flash drive, or whatever without the aid of my computer. How can I do this? lostsoul62 (16011)
1323351 2013-01-17 17:45:00 As far as I'm aware, you'll need a computer to control the transfer to other media. If you're travelling this could be any computer with the right ports / card readers.

That, or carry a lot of empty camera media until you get back.

1323352 2013-01-17 18:01:00 You could always go to a internet café and email them to your self or some storage site.

1323353 2013-01-17 18:50:00 Or this:

Epson P-7000 160GB M.Media Storage $1,259.00. This reads directly off the card, no power supply needed I think. I don't have one, but have seen int in use.

Small, convenient, expensive... :(

1323354 2013-01-17 20:07:00 There are external drives that do just what you want. They use USB On-the-Go (OTG) mode to act as both a USB slave (so a PC can read contents) and a (simplified) USB Host that can access other Mass Storage devices. An example here:

My sister-in-law bought an enclosure like this on TradeMe a few years ago - you might want to take a look around

1323355 2013-01-17 20:22:00 You would want something like one of these:

The only problem is if it's HDD based and you drop it, you could lose the lot. Or, if you lose the device, you lose the lot.

Personally, I'd just get more (good quality) cards for the camera.

1323356 2013-01-19 01:34:00 Just Get a 32gb or 64gb card they can hold thousands of photos. Just don't lose the camera. Cards are relativly cheap and don't not take up extra room PPp (9511)
1323357 2013-01-19 01:51:00 Buy additional cards overseas where they are much cheaper than what we pay for the same thing here in NZ. Zippity (58)
1323358 2013-01-19 02:37:00 You can get those devices like R.M says but ones that don't have a LCD screen so cheaper.
Yes, internet cafes.
Camera kit for the iPAD works but slow afaik or USB sticks with other tablets.
There was Belkin device but it was sorta slow not sure sure if any other available eg - you plug in a memory card and plug in another memory card or USB stick ... and the things copies it for you.
