1323114 2013-01-16 20:46:00 Hi i am trying to get the fax working on the c 309 printer fax
when i run the fax test it says the hardware is oka, the fax is connected to an telephone jack, but that the phone cord is connected to the 2 ext instead of the 1 line input on the printer.
The phone cord is connected to the 1 line so I dont know why the test is showing this. (ive tried connecting it to the 2 ext but get the same error message)
The fax rings out to another fax but doesnt connect to it. if I try and send a fax to the printer it rings but doesnt recieve the fax.
The printer is conected to the same phone point as our broadband though the usual splitter. we have a telephone on another phone point which goes though a splitter we have sky tv which is also though a splitter.
I have tried disconecting the broadband and the phone but it makes no difference

any ideas what do I try next
Thanks
Peter

1323115 2013-01-16 20:57:00 According to this not all HP printers are compatible with ADSL. When you use the fax (h20000.www2.hp.com)

Or try one of the steps here (h20000.www2.hp.com)

1323116 2013-01-16 21:37:00 Thanks Speedy
I am using a 4 wire phone lead so maybe I need to use a 2 wire instead

I have tried it with the adsl disconected but still didnt work.

I will try the other ideas when I get home
Thanks
Peter

1323117 2013-01-16 23:18:00 You're using an ADSL line filter between the phone jack and fax, right?

Re-read Speedy's first link

"In order for analog equipment to use analog channels on an ADSL line, an ADSL micro-filter is needed to be installed so that digital and analog channels can be separated."

1323118 2013-01-17 00:53:00 Hi yes just the usual asdl / phone splitter that comes with a modem ( I presume thats what you mean by micro filter) adsl to the modem comes off same splitter perhaps I need to check splitter is working as it should be petemit (1134)
