| 1322949 | 2013-01-15 20:29:00 | Called me old-fashioned but I find animated graphics of any kind on web pages distracting, and annoying. Check out "Google's" home page "Zamboni" (ice resurfacer) animation. Getting on my soapbox: Does this really improve Google searches, or merely waste bandwidth? It reminds me of some temporary car traffic barriers I saw in Japan, with pink bunnies holding the rails. In Firefox v 18 Windows 7, I have * disabled GIF animations, via "about:config" * disabled Macromedia flash However I can't figure out how to disable JavaScript animations, without disabling JavaScript entirely. javascript.info Obviously most web pages work fine without GIF animations and Macromedia, but require JavaScript |

| 1322950 | 2013-01-15 23:06:00 | Simplest (and very effective for a range of annoying "features" Google etc keep changing) way is UAControl plugin for FF. You can then enable/disable for any site you want - I have mine on permanently, and just disable it if I want to see what I'm "missing" lol - like the Google Zamboni. I see the Google Zamboni - but only the pic - I disabled my UAControl for a minute and refreshed to see what the animation is... I see what you mean! lol (quickly enables UAControl again...) Get the UAControl plugin here (addons.mozilla.org) Just instal the plugin - then you'll see a "UAControl" button on the bottom right of FF. Click it - select UAControl Options. Click Add Site and select "block" or "Custom" (Custom if you want to send your own "message" sent back to them instead hehe) put www.google.co.nz in the site That's it - you can enable/disable at will |
