1298732 2012-09-05 09:17:00 Does that mean another round trip of hundreds of miles next week? That has to be tough. Best wishes SJ. bellbird (6169)
1298733 2012-09-05 11:04:00 You are seriously putting at risk your medical insurance no-claims bonus. There must be easier ways to meet nurses. R2x1 (4628)
1298734 2012-09-05 16:29:00 You were very lucky to be in ED at the time. Don't you have a closer hospital?

Take it easy and don't go doing anything rash now you hear!

We have a number of local medical facilities and they are all good, but my free medical (VA-sponsored) coverage is at their own facilities. I will have another follow-up procedure at Missoula - just 43 miles way (passing about three general hospitals on the way) to get to where y VA coverage is useable.

Just 43+ miles each way to the Missoula satellite facility of that from Fort Harrison, I'm afraid. But that's not far considering that when I lived in Anza California, I had a one-way trip of 112 miles to Loma Linda/VA and that was over twisty-turny mountain roads for the first hour/45+ miles until I got to the freeway where it was clear sailing at 80 MPH for the remainder of the trip.

Gotta say that the nurses in The Fort were super! Really - they'd appropriate food for me 'round the clock to satisfy my hunger and usual 12-times a day meal taking, which I normally do. All of them - with no exception - were kind beyond belief and cared for me better than I would have done for such a demanding (and hungry) patient on their ward(s).

My Post-Military VA insurance isn't built on a number-of-claims or times of use. I can go to the VA as often as my li'l feet can carry me with no penalties for attendance.

I acheived this locked in status by joining the US Navy in 1968 when they were offering cradle-to-grave care for inductees at that time, so I cannot be refused as I am fully matriculated into that program - which the VA sometimes forgets.

This program is part of my original Shipping Orders and is non-revocable by them or me.

Watch out Joe, you might be called back as part of the really, really small fine print.

1298736 2012-09-05 21:44:00 Nah - they asked me to not come back. I'll take that as a stay-away. SurferJoe46 (51)
1298737 2012-09-05 23:10:00 You sound like you are on the mend. mikebartnz (21)
1298738 2012-09-06 02:26:00 Thanks, Mike. Yes I am - so much so that I mowed a full acre of yard today. I cheated since I was riding on my lawn tractor, but it's still an activity. SurferJoe46 (51)

Some of those ride on mowers remind me of riding in an old cheek slapper (old Volkswagen Beetle for those that don't know).

1298740 2012-09-06 03:17:00 Happy to hear you are coming right. Doesn't pay to smoke Idaho... or any other state for that matter! :D KarameaDave (15222)
1298741 2012-09-07 05:11:00 Today was a good day: vertical and no dirt in my face. Hopefully the rest of this week is sans-smoke for a while. I'm not sure if smoke is the mitigating factor or not, but it sure seems do. SurferJoe46 (51)
