1323160 2013-01-17 20:08:00 Ok Spoke to soon.
Tried to print this morning and no go-bugger.
IP keeps changing
Yesterday after updating firmware and reinstal, IP was 192.168.1.118
This morning when failed it was 192.168.1.148??????????
When searching for printer it found it at 192.168.1.116
After loading the IP was 192.168.1.116
Looks like I need to fix it on a static address. Not sure how to do that. Read the link from Kingdragonfly and looks confusing.

1323161 2013-01-17 20:25:00 This wont be of any help, but hopefully someone else can come up with a suggestion.

Thats the exact same thing that happens with my Lexmark. With mine, the IP address is actually set on the printer, but it wont hold it. For some reason the printer decides it doesn't want that IP set anymore so the router then gives it another.

Just looking at my Brother networked Printer, you can go into the settings Via a Browser, Under network Configuration /Configure TCP/IP / Configure IP Filter you can play around with the settings to allow/ disallow certain addresses. You also set the IP address in the same settings. Has yours got similar settings ?

1323162 2013-01-17 21:51:00 Worth a look.
How do you get into the settings via a browser?
Also checked the laptop which works to the printer through the router. Same problem. Haven't checked it before as I rarely print from the laptop.

1323163 2013-01-17 22:21:00 You might be able to set the lease time for the current IP address on the routers DHCP page - not sure if there's a permanent option but certainly you should be able to increase it, that way whenever the printer reconnects the router should give it the same address as long as it's within the lease time ( I think, networking is one of my weaker areas). dugimodo (138)
1323164 2013-01-17 22:27:00 Assuming the printer has held the same address, open your Browser in the address bar type in its IP address

EG: from your previous post http://192.168.1.116 then press enter.

Suggestion -- Use IE, some printers throw a fit if you try to use FF or Chrome.

Note: Theres NO www as you are not trying to access a internet Address, only a Local ( LAN)

Thanks Dugi. Found it and increased it to 5 days. It was set 1 day. Be interesting to see what happens.

Tried that in IE. Took me to an address search site. Didn't put anything but the IP address.

1323167 2013-01-18 00:10:00 Something wasn't right then. If you typed in your printers IP address it should have opened the user interface.

Mines 192.168.1.7 See Pic:

1323168 2013-01-18 22:31:00 Yep it is strange.
Have tried several times, always with the same result.
Tried with opera and FF and you were right it did not work.
