Time to dung out the crappy, reality disconnected lot of them in my opinion.Apparently you are wrong, same judge gave 9 months home D, for killing a girl while boy racing. Just on 3 news. Well at least he is consistent |

| 1298188 | 2012-09-02 08:32:00 | The judge has become a target for the media due to his sentencing. A boy racer killed a young woman and got nine months home detention. Judge Raoul Neave sentenced the driver to nine months home detention and told him that to give meaning to Danielle Reeves life he should make a success of his own. Read more: www.3news.co.nz |

What actually happened is the judge observed that this case had been high profile, far beyond its importance, and a disproportionate amount of prurient public interest had been generated by the media. In other words TV/newsprint guys and gals - would you be here if this was a typical Manukau driving/street fight/yadda yadda case?? No you wouldn't. You wouldn't even bother to report the case. Pathetic. Not that you'll find such analysis anywhere. |

No person should be able to get away with crime, surely not with the judges blessing. This case stinks, as does the secondary one that has been dredged up, and it isn't the media thats rotten to they core, they didn't ruin anyones life. |

If I was the victim I'd go for twice the reparation. Twice the community work wouldn't be any use to the victim, at least you can spend the reparation. |

| 1298192 | 2012-09-02 12:35:00 | The victim is already ****ed, The damage has been done, and the sentence should reflect that harm. If we are going to give real world compensation then give him 10 million or unbreak his legs, remove the event from his mind. Can't be done, ***, money for piss. The judge should be hanged. I got a mate, run over 6 years ago, munted his legs, he got 200 grand, his life is still ****. |

I doubt as to if the victim had any say in the matter. The poor sod will probably have to fight like hell with ACC too. |
