1323926 2013-01-21 01:51:00 I just bought a new modem/router and it has worked fine on many computers except my dads macbook air. Slankydudl (16687)
1323927 2013-01-21 01:52:00 So, the problem is most likely with the Macbook Air then. What sort of password protection are you using on the router? Does taking away the password allow the Macbook to access the internet then? Nick G (16709)
1323928 2013-01-21 02:02:00 I was using WPA2 and disabling it has appeared to solve the issue, I will go through different encryption types until one work's. Thank you. Slankydudl (16687)
1323929 2013-01-21 02:17:00 What model Macbook Air is it? Could be the wireless card doesn't support WPA2. Did it like WPA2 on the old router? Nick G (16709)
1323930 2013-01-21 02:38:00 Does it connect at all? If it connects but you get no internet access wireless is probably been moved underneath ethernet or something see here: support.apple.com if that doesn't work try a DHCP Lease Renewal\

If you can't connect to the wireless at all:

- Update the routers firmware

What version of OSX are you running? Lion has known wifi issues, make sure your version of the OS is up to date. Various updates are out for lion and mountain lion that fix OSX's wifi issues.

- Use a Linux Live CD, if you can connect to the wifi using that then it's a settings issue on the Mac side. If you can't you might have to do some digging on the wireless device that your Dad's mac is using. You may find it's incompatible with some feature that the router might have on by default.

1323931 2013-01-21 03:15:00 the problem has started again.... it is connecting to the internet and working but it will intermittently just disconnect then reconnect Slankydudl (16687)
1323932 2013-01-21 03:34:00 Have a look in the router for the channel width settings. Most modern routers will have 20MHz/40MHz selected, try forcing 20MHz widths and see if that helps. wratterus (105)
1323933 2013-01-21 03:36:00 Whats the brand/model of the modem? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1323934 2013-01-21 03:55:00 Sounds like this: osxdaily.com and osxdaily.com

Make sure OS X is up to date. 99% sure they fixed this (seeing as it's a 2011 issue).
