1323267 2013-01-17 04:46:00 My computer is running on Windows 7 64 bit. I have the Internet Crime Complaint Center Virus. I went to safemode with networking, ran Microsoft Essentials – full scan on the infected computer the result was Essentials found nothing on my computer.

Now I am completely locked out of my computer except by going in through f8 to command prompt. At that point I can run FRST64.exe from a flash drive (which before solved the problem). Now it does not. I do have a text file from using FRST, but do not know what to do with it..

I have tried using an installation disk and a recover disk, but they can not get through the Internet Crime Complaint Center screen.

I would love to have my computer back.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

1323269 2013-01-17 05:19:00 Try the Kasperky rescue Disk (rescuedisk.kaspersky-labs.com) <- direct link to ISO

You have to burn it to a blank cd then boot from it

1323270 2013-01-17 05:19:00 "Normally" ( famous last words) its not that hard to remove.

Sounds like its gotten in a bit deeper.

Have a read of www.pcrisk.com Jump to set 2 since its blocking the safe mode. Take note of Numbers 4 & 5 these are VERY important.

Assuming you can change the reg key, boot normally, if it wont try booting into safe mode, first run TFC www.bleepingcomputer.com its a temp file cleaner, thats a lot better than Ccleaner, then run AdwCleaner www.bleepingcomputer.com
Once that's run, download and run Malwarebytes www.malwarebytes.org as well as Spybot Search and Destroy www.filehippo.com

1323271 2013-01-17 05:34:00 This thread (www.bleepingcomputer.com) on bleeping computer.com gives you some idea of what normally is now with this virus.

I will start to work on this tomorrow night.

Thanks

1323272 2013-01-18 03:12:00 Tried this. Watched the CDROM light go on. Then boom Windows logon on screen comes on and here comes the Internet Crime complaint Center Virus screen.

Thought I would try and get to the rescue disk by going in through the c: prompt.

Now when I try the c:\ it starts the windows log in screen and then the Internet ...........

Of course, I don't have everything backed up on my hard drive or I would just start over.

Any good ideas ...... even a fair or mediocre idea would be great!!

1323273 2013-01-18 03:17:00 Did you try safe mode with the Command Prompt method ?

Also re the bootable CD, is the BIOS set to allow the Optical Drive as first boot device ?

If it is, then the Kaspersky Bootable CD is not good enough as the infection is killing it or its not booting correctly, try booting the CD on a good PC, see if it boots.

Theres generally only one exe file that needs to be disabled / removed then it can boot normally and do a proper clean out, but it creates a random name so its not easy to locate sometimes.

1323274 2013-01-18 03:53:00 Adding to above, Normally I'd use a better bootable cd, one made by Nod32, but you need the actual program installed and make it yourself.

One other one that's not to bad -- You can try Bitdefender,download.bitdefender.com just tried both for the hell of it, Bitdefender booted fine and is scanning a PC now, Kaspersky failed to boot at all.

1323275 2013-01-18 04:11:00 Just tried the safe mode with command prompt and as it starts to load the computer then starts to log into Windows 7 - but it looks like it is at 840 pixal size .

When I log out it freezes with the message "access violation at 004a4af4d in module pctsgui . exe" If I force the progam to stop the computer will shut off .

Tried the Kaspersky and it would not boot on another computer . Made sure that it said to bood from the CDROM .

Will try the bitdefender now .

Thanks

1323276 2013-01-18 04:56:00 Wierd thing just happened.

I put in the bitdefender CD to boot from.

All of a sudden the log screen for windows comes up and I log into Windows and it is in protected mode. So right now I am doing a full scan with Microsoft Security Essentials since it is the only software I have for virus stuff.

The scan stopped or froze. I went to history and it shows that it quarantined Trojan:Win32/Lyposit.b at 11:35 PM. It says I should remove it immediately. I am going to do it now.

I did that shut down Security Essentials because it did not move for 20 minutes. When I restarted it it just went to where it stopped and doesn't move.

Should I purchase other virus software now or shut it off and do it tomorrow. But, will it start up again?
