| 1322575 | 2013-01-13 08:06:00 | This is probably a simple problem that most people already understand...but not I. :D Occasionally I access the net through wifi avaliable in coffee shops etc. When I use OE, mail downloads just fine but no mail uploads. I realise I can use webmail but that can be a pain and doesn't always work. Besides, I like to keep all of my mail in one program on my lappie so I can access and search it which has been necessary quite a lot lately. Using POP3 and SMTP on Xtra. Mail accounts with Xtra, Orcon, and Google. Any thoughts? |

The way to get around this is to change your outgoing server to: send.xtra.co.nz You will also need to change the port from 25 to 465 and set it to use SSL (Found on the Advanced tab) and on the Outgoing server tab (I think that's what it's called) select the option for 'My outgoing server requires authentication' and set it to 'Use the same username & password as my incoming server.' |

Xtra don't like to play nice when sharing their smtp servers. Seen it very often when a person is with Xtra, and changes to another ISP Eg: Orcan , Vodafone/Telstra etc. All of a sudden the outgoing mail wont work. The new ISP/sales reps kind of "Forget" to mention this one minor fact when they draw people away from Xtra. |
