| 104540 | 2002-12-09 19:21:00 | During the install process on a Win2k system I was prompted for the Administrator password and selected the option to use a 'single sign-on' for all users on this machine. After upgrading to XP I wish to use the Welcome Screen but the previous setting from Win2k over-rides the Welcome Screen login. I have checked the Local Security Policies and there is an "allow automatic Administrative logon" option but this is already disabled Please help me find where to turn this off ! many thanks. :( |

| 104541 | 2002-12-09 20:34:00 | Hey Have you tried: Logon as Administrator > Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Change the way users log on or off Click the Use the Welcome screen check box. Also some reference is available at Microsoft Support (support.microsoft.com) Hope this helped CyberChuck |

| 104543 | 2002-12-10 06:02:00 | Fixed it ! finally :) Cyber Chuck got me thinking along the right lines . The MS support site is better than Help in XP by miles . By using the XP description of "system logon" I found the correct symptoms on the support site . It was a registry key for "autoadminlogon" option that was set to 1 and trying to change the option in Local Security Policies did not fix the registry key setting . Changed this to '0' and I am back to manual logons using the Welcome Screen again . Thanks Cyber Chuck and all others who offered some suggestions . :) |
