| 104537 | 2002-12-09 19:06:00 | I have a big problem! I used an XP upgrade over my WIN98SE on c:. Last night I applied the SP1 and during the process received a message "can't find setupapi". I tried to cancel but was informed that if I did cancel, the system would not run correctly. I carried on. At the end of the install I got an error messsage :Can't finf setupapi.dll". When rebooting, the system will not start. 1. Can this be fixed by using F8 and booting into the last good bootup? 2. If it can't be fixed, can I copy files from c: to e: where there is also an xp operating system? 3. Will it be necessary to reformat c: or can I use a floppy emergency disk to get into c: and reolace the XP Operating system with WIN98SE again? Any help would be appreciated. Bryan. |

| 104538 | 2002-12-10 00:27:00 | Hey Some users have recorded problems when upgrading XP to SP1... Dependant on how you installed XP depends if you can restore to '98. If you told Windows to retain your Old OS and keep the FAT drive format then you should be able to restore your computer to 98 (or atleast backup all important data and start from scratch) Did you make a Windows 98 boot disk? If you did you can boot 98 off that, and (in theory) you could remove XP from there CyberChuck |
