104372 2002-12-09 02:21:00 I would like to know what is the maxium size I can print using an inkjet printer with photo quality paper from a picture taken at 1024 x 768 resolution without losing quality?

Cheers

104373 2002-12-09 03:53:00 Depends on:

The resolution of your printer

The compression routines in your camera firmware

The software you are printing from.

The nature of the scene you are printing

The sharpness of the original

The eyesight of the viewer

As all the variables are interdependent only trial and error will tell you.
The only constants are the printer resolution and the camera firmware.

Its really like saying "how long is a piece of string"
What someone finds acceptable others will find below standard.
The subject matter will greatly influence it also

The answer will lie between 2" x 3" and A4

104374 2002-12-09 09:41:00 I accidentally clicked on a thumbnail prepared for my website instead of the standard Jpg pic. I printed to the full A4 page and the result was like a cross-stitch picture of the flower-- in fact it could easily have been used as a cross stitch pattern as it was made up of little coloured squares- from across the room it looked a perfectly normal pic-quite attractive in fact!
