I'm just going to trust the guy with one post then, am I? I don't take candy from strangers.

I guess I'm just over people dissing Windows and other MS products and promoting Linux as the be all and end all of platforms. There are enough posts here also regarding problems people are having with setup/config that perhaps its time I went to those threads and start saying "Linux is crap, thats what you get for using free s**t - why not just pay the $$ and get something better?". I'll probably get shot, but I'm willing to give it a go.

Ah - 4:30pm, I just started to feel better already.

I'm with you honeylaser! M$ bashing is very popular with linux users. Must be 'cos they're all too aware that Windows is now superior.

Seriously, let's face it, Linux is an enthusiasts OS. It has no place in the mainstream. I used to feel the same as these people when I was an Amiga enthusiast - but we all have to grow up eventually and just accept life. :p

Well said.

104679 2002-12-10 10:14:00 It is possible to reactivate XP after 4 months - no questions asked.
If this was not the case, second hand XP software would be worthless.
I think the idea is to prevent commercial users installing a swag of computers on one copy of XP.

I guess we all have our preferences and in the future I will keep that in mind.

104681 2002-12-10 19:36:00 Just to add my 2c worth to the "knocking the knockers" debate, I agree that people who rubbish other people's choices and try to force their own ideals on others are incredibly annoying, whether it is operating systems, hardware, religion or whatever.

There are horses for courses and I have no objection to people politely suggesting an alternative without any hint of "you should do this, it's the best, it's the only way". After all, if people kept silent on things how are we to learn about a potentially fantastic alternative? Just as long as they accept it when other people do not agree with them.

Each to his own - to my mind I think the key is tact.
