104445 2002-12-09 07:08:00 Recently had to reinstall Direct CD from the original Adaptec Software CD and now it will not recognise CD-RW and format them it just keeps saying medium is not ready... The program has worked correctly in the past...if I can't get it to work is there any other free program I could use to get the job done. hammer (1735)
104446 2002-12-10 05:08:00 Hi Hammer

As you have recently reinstalled Direct CD (which previously had worked), try uninstalling it again along with the CD creator software (remove all scraps) and then try installing just Direct CD and see if it works. If all OK, reinstall CD creator as well (if required).

Worth a shot.

104448 2002-12-10 19:24:00 What version are you using?
Go to www.roxio.com and check for any updates for your version.

104449 2002-12-14 11:59:00 done the update thu roxio.... no joy....not only direct cd wont work but I can't get data on to an ordinary CD-R either... which has worked before... its almost like i have a file missing that is used in executing programs hammer (1735)
104450 2002-12-14 12:04:00 Have you tried updating the supported CD writers? Somewhere in the Roxio support - updates section there is a download to increase the support for a wider range of CD writers. Otherwise, if you're using XP, try using XP's built in CDRW support and format a CDRW in that system. If that works then it's the Roxio software at fault. agent (30)
104451 2002-12-15 04:59:00 yes i have tried updating the software... no success....no I am using windows me.....I seem to have a few problems since upgrading to internet explorer 6 couple more little installation problems but i have mostly sorted them out...except for the adaptec ones.. hammer (1735)
104452 2002-12-15 07:48:00 I had a similar problem.
I found that it started after I had installed the latest version of Real Player.
I uninstalled Real Player and reinstalled Direct CD and it started working again.
