105029 2002-12-11 03:24:00 Hi All,
Over the last 3 days I have been getting spam into my hotmail account. Have had that address for over a year now & maybe had 2 spams in all that time.
I don't give that address to any sites so is it just good luck on their side?
I will have to put Mailwasher in action now.
Pauline.

105030 2002-12-11 03:47:00 Same happened to me long ago. After my first account went spam carzy I started a new one. It was spam free for about 6 months then in one week it all went sour. I now have to purge it every few days to keep it under limit. Biggles (121)
105031 2002-12-11 04:37:00 Hi Pauline

You can crank up your settings in Hotmail to help filter out the junk by clicking on Options and then re-adjusting the settings under the Mail Handling area.

If you have used your name in the hotmail address, it is easier for the spammers to guess valid addresses. A suggestion would be (if the spam gets too much) is to set up a new account using random letters and numbers for your address - this will unfortunately make it hard for friends to remember your email addy, but should make your account stay spam free longer.

105032 2002-12-11 04:55:00 I've got my account set to intercept and delete all junk mail but stuff still gets through. It seems to have spasms when a lot will come in over a few days then it will taper off for a while.

Mind you, my hotmail addy is on display on websites so I can't complain about being spammed. :D

I have set my Hotmail account up so as to only receive email from those people in my Hotmail address book. This certainly cuts out the spam and works well if you only use Hotmail for emergency or travelling purposes.
