105013 2002-12-11 03:23:00 Hi all,

Take a peek,Here (www.suttons.orcon.net.nz) and tell me how it works

I can fathom out most card-tricks,but at this stage this one has me baffled!

Cheers,Kiwitas,;-)

105014 2002-12-11 03:40:00 Think it has to do with the magic number 9! :) CYaBro (73)
105015 2002-12-11 03:57:00 The formula creates a modulo 9 type result, and notice that the symbols change each attempt, but every 9th one is the same, and will be returned as the result. godfather (25)
105016 2002-12-11 04:02:00 You don't have as many options as you think ;)

10*(first digit)+second digit=the number

e.g for 54
10*5+4=54

Now,

final number=the number - first digit - second digit.
i.e.
the number = final number +first digit + second digit

Subbing this into the first equation gives you.

10*(first digit)+second digit = final number +first digit + second digit

Which boils down to

9*(first digit)=final number

In other words the final calculated number is always 9 times the first digit. It must be
9,18,27,36,45,54,63,72,81.

Have a look, these always have the same symbol :-)

105017 2002-12-11 04:02:00 no matter what 2 digits u're thinking .. at the end you'll end up with 9 or it's multiples eg. 9, 18, 27, 36, 45 ...etc. they all have the same symbols

:D

105018 2002-12-11 04:06:00 So read and understand it, and start betting on it with "friends". (They won't be friends after a while ...) ]:) Graham L (2)
105019 2002-12-11 05:09:00 this is quite ingenious. vk_dre (195)
