104949 2002-12-10 23:55:00 It means it cannot read the CD. Something wrong with the data. It knows its there, but it cannot read it correctly, so it won't read it at all. godfather (25)

104951 2002-12-11 05:42:00 What are you trying to copy? Baldy (26)
104952 2002-12-11 06:17:00 Some files my friend is passing on.... general home-made stuff, e.g. funny slide shows, etc.

For matter of interest, will files within copyrighted material such as ones of Microsoft, Music CD, be corrupted then?

104953 2002-12-11 06:52:00 I use Easy CD Creator, and you just drag and drop when u click copy files. Baldy (26)
104954 2002-12-11 07:10:00 sy, we cannot tell which files are corrupted, but its also possible that the TOC (table of contents) itself is corrupt, which could give you that error.

Try cleaning the CD first?

There are programs available to try to recover corrupt files, but most are reasonably expensive.

104956 2002-12-11 19:27:00 Just a longshot - you could try going to (Win 98) Control Panel/System/Performance/File System/CD-ROM and try changing the "Supplemental cache size" and/or the "Optimise Access Pattern for" to No read ahead.

I have had success with these settings in the past.
