A friends PC hard drive crashed. He installed a new one and reloaded his OS, Windows 98. Everything works except the sound? I've had a look and the OS can't detect a sound card. CDs etc won't play. I've tried running the "Add new Hardware" wizard but no sound card is found. Suggestions? (He doesn't know which sound card he has). |

Maybe onboard sound. Does he have a motherboard CD with drivers on it? |

make sure matherboard drivers are installed. if windows dosn't detect it then open the case and see what sound card it is. |

If it's an onboard sound card make sure it's Enable in the BIOS :)

Thanks for the advice. Yes, he has onboard sound, we found a CD with drivers on and all is OK :) |
