And if you opened any of the messages you would have confirmed the account is active because it would have loaded images from their server. My suggestion would be to ditch hotmail for one of many other services. Yahoo is popular, although I've found www.eudoramail.com good. |

| 105040 | 2002-12-11 18:17:00 | Hey Have you tried setting your junk mail filter to high or exclusive (exclusive requires that anyone who emails you must be on you contacts list/address book or safelist? Also is your name listed in the Internet WhitePages, Hotmail Member Directory, or any other online directory?? CyberChuck |

| 105041 | 2002-12-11 22:35:00 | Hi Cyberchuck, I have just gone & made those changes. It had been so long since I had gone to the Hotmail site where originally I had it set to exclusive but there have been changes since I was last there & my settings had somehow been changed. Iv'e fixed that now. I don't know if I am any directory or white pages service, I hope not. Pauline. |

Perfidious Hotmail will change whatever settings it (M$) chooses. I abondoned Hotmail and use Yahoo and the junk mail is minimal (at the moment). I've had the Yahoo addy maybe 6 months and it hasn't got any worse. |

| 105043 | 2002-12-11 22:50:00 | It's because when Hotmail changed their policy a while back, they by default went and changed everyone's settings so that they were listed in the directory... everyone had to change it back, but some people didn't know about it. | agent (30) | ||
| 105044 | 2002-12-12 01:19:00 | I also had too many problems with hotmail, my main free webmail account now is with nzoomail (http://nzoomail.com). I have not really had any probs, no spam that I can recall, and you can choose from 5-6 different email domain names. | Stone Cold (2706) | ||
| 105045 | 2002-12-12 06:53:00 | The pain in the ass with Hotmail is that you can't filter out part addresses. I'm getting a Sh*t load of spam now addressed to [myname] @hotmail.com. But no where in the settings on HM can you say "delete all mail that starts with or includes...." You can only block a domain or entire address. |
