105374 2002-12-12 06:19:00 Hi, I have been given an old Mustek Plug-n-Scan 600 II SP Scanner (1996). My PC has a Duron 1.2 & 160MB SDRAM. When I go to pre-scan an image, i get "Flatbed scanner is not ready" I looked at Musteks support site & it recommended starting in Safe Mode & trying to scan as this may be a SW conflict. It did scan in Safe Mode. 1st question is how do I go about fixing this "SW conflict", by closing other open Apps or checking Memory Address conflicts??? Also, if I am connected to the I/net, when I click scan, my connection drops. I have looked in D.Mngr & it shows no conflicts, although my Modem & Graphics Controller chip are sharing the same IRQ. Also the Scanner isn't listed in D.Mngr, althogh it works in Safe Mode. I know it is an old scanner but I am going for my A+ cert & intend learning all I can. Any help is appreciated. quackle (2097)
105375 2002-12-12 06:33:00 What is your parallel port set to in BIOS?

I think these scanners are parallel connect, and if so you need EPP or ECP setting to the port.

How can we comment on software conflict when we don't know what software you are running? (Version of Windows?)

If you are loading Twain drivers, and they work, why not acquire the scan from another image editing package, it may avoid the conflict.

105376 2002-12-13 01:35:00 Hi, the LPT is set to ECP/EPP - should I try to set it just to EPP. Also 2 different EPP settings available EPP1.7 & 1.9, dunno if this makes a diff. I am running W98SE. I tried to aquire from another imaging prog, same error msg. In regards to SW conflict, is a SW conflict a case of Apps open at the same time conflicting, or more to do with SW incompatibilities, eg. W98 doesn't like driver or support SW??? quackle (2097)
