| 105199 | 2002-12-11 21:15:00 | Against all my better instincts, I agreed to take a look at a compaq presario 2230, that had stoped working after being moved. Out of warranty, so I thought maybe just a loose cable - and the poor woman who owned it could not afford to send it into compaq. Upon opening the case, I noticed that there were 2 simm slots with no ram. I know compaq are special, so I rang there techs and the lovely woman there told me that the ram may be fixed to the motherboard....Pardon???? I didn't quite understand her ramblings and so I need someone out there with some compaq knowledge to explain. The point is, the woman who owns the computer was burgled on the same day that the computer stopped working. Did the thieves open up the computer and steal the ram??????? Or is there a secret compaq stick of ram somewhere deep inside case that I can't find??? Anybody, anywhere, can you help!!! |

| 105200 | 2002-12-11 21:27:00 | Someone has obviously took out the RAM if they're not sitting in it's RAM slots :) Compaq's MB is no different than any other one on the market. Most of the time they use oem versions of MB manufacturers :) |

So I guess it's worth a bit second hand - seems bizarre that they replaced the cover and put the whole thing back the way it was. Tidy burglars. Thanks for the help. |
