105116 2002-12-11 09:15:00 Hi there all
I found it another time but forget where. Where do you set it so that the NumLock is on on startup with Win 2000

Thanks.

105117 2002-12-11 09:22:00 You must be talking about in the BIOS, and yes. Most PCs have numlock turned on at boot, as most people use the numbers and not the directional keys. It is a default setting to have it on at boot, except the light doesn't turn on until after BIOS has finished it's thing. agent (30)

105119 2002-12-11 09:31:00 No that isn't it as it is already defaulted to on in the Bios and I know I have come across it before (probably by accident as MS love putting things in different or illogical places). mikebartnz (21)

105121 2002-12-11 18:32:00 Hey

Have you tried using a registry tweak for it?

REGEDIT4
[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Keyboard]
"InitialKeyboardIndicators"="2"

Copy the above text (from REGEDIT4 to "Initial..." and paste it into notepad, then save it as "numlock.reg" somewhere you can easily find. Quit out of it, find numlock.reg and double click on it - It should come back telling you that it has been successfully merged with the registry. Now you can delete numlock.reg and reboot your computer

Hope this helps

105122 2002-12-11 20:11:00 I thought Win2K remembered each users preference for it? Mines always on when I login if I use my user, but If I use the "family" account, its not coz nobody ever uses it!

Maybe I've been wrong and it's just been pure chance thou.

You're definitely Wrong ... Nah . just kidding ]:)

you're quite right, when win2k or xp starts up the 1st time, NUm Lock is always off until you press the "Num Lock Key" then next time when you login, NUm Lock key will stays on :)
