105660 2002-12-13 06:29:00 Hello People

I'll just like to ask, where in Auckland could I find a place to sell my motherboard . It's not old at all, only had for 3 months . Also when selling things like this, do I need to show my receipt to be able to sell it? Cause I got the motherboard as a computer package so I would only have the receipt for the whole computer, not by parts . . . . I hope you guys know what I mean :( . I have a MS-6378 motherboard, how much would I be able to sell it for? The price for that right now is some where near $140 with GST, would I be able to sell it at least $120 or maybe at least over $100? I still have the manual and the driver cds, everything is in a very good condition and like I said I only had it for 3 months .

Thank You

105661 2002-12-13 06:50:00 Probably best to sell through Trade and Exchange and have it running in the PC to be able to demonstrate it is OK, otherwise how does anyone know it isnt a lemon?

Also that way if anyone came back and said it doesnt work, you can point out it was ok when it left you. Therefore the buyer must have caused any problem.

Most unlikely that a dealer would want to buy it.

Dont expect too high a price, it is now second hand, so wont be worth more than 1/2 new price.

105662 2002-12-13 07:49:00 Hey

Check out Trademe (http://www.trademe.co.nz) You can sell it there (through an auction) and also compare prices :D (Take a look under the Categories section somewhere around the top right part of the screen)

105663 2002-12-13 07:56:00 try tradme:
www.trademe.co.nz

have a look at some of the M/B's on there to get a rough idea for a price:www.trademe.co.nz

i've bought and sold many things (mainly computer parts) off there, no probs at all, plus, u'll probly get a good price for it if its fairly new and has no probs etc

and no, u don't need a reciept to sell it on there.

another place u could sell it to is cash converters, just take it in there an see, just don't accept if they only offer a little $$$.
hope this helps
cheers

105665 2002-12-13 18:41:00 Coupla probs with Trademe:

1: There is a gazillion motherboards and CPUs for sale.

2: They have changed some ways in which you can leave a message on their board about a trader who has ripped you off. Basically, now being a moderated board, you can't leave such messages. There seems to be a mutiny (?) of sorts going on there right now, check out the message board (general) and you'll get the idea...also you can't view other people's blacklisted traders, so you can't keep up with who won't deal with whom because they never got paid or the goods never arrived.
It almost seems like they are trying to protect the bad traders -a lot like our government protecting the crimminals? :)

105666 2002-12-13 19:06:00 well i've never came across a 'bad' trader on tradme, tho i no there r some out there :(
However, if you're concernced, use safetrader (www.safetrader.co.nz) i use it for when i buy more expensive items, or the person i'm buying to is new.
Go to the site for more details, waist of time me explaining here when everythings on the site.
just one thing though - there is a small fee charged (nothing big) and it does slow your transcation time down a bit (the time when u pay the money untill when u get the goods is a bit longer etc)
but i suggest, if you're concerned, dealing with a new guy, dealing with alot of money, or just would rather not risk it, use safetrader.
hope this helps

105667 2002-12-13 21:26:00 you should try to talk with the PC shop where u purchased it from and ask them whether u they can trade in the board and let u upgrade to another board. SKT174 (1319)
105668 2002-12-13 21:40:00 I used them since 1999, but I stopped using TradeMe a few months ago. The quality of traders went downhill and there are a lot of rip offs there now.

What really got my goat was when someone offered some thing "for sale or swap" and I posted my email address for the to contact me for a swap I go suspended!

On another occaision when I was falsely accused in feed back they were not at all interested in sorting it out.

Trademe has got way too greedy throughout 2002 and have lost my custom.
