105600 2002-12-13 02:03:00 I have 2 AMD PC's (1800XP and 2000XP) running WinXP, linked together via network cards. The 1800 machine has a NI200 adsl modem card connected to Xtra. Both machines are able to access the Internet, E-mail, MSN etc but the 1800 machine is fast while the 2000 machine is slow. Very slow. Can I expect both machines to access the ADSL line at the same speed? Do I need to adjust settings for this to happen? Any ideas would be appreciated.

105601 2002-12-13 03:08:00 The speed should be the same from both PC's.
How fast it transfering some data (off the HDD) from the 1800 to the 2000?
If this is slow too then could be a network problem.

105602 2002-12-13 04:39:00 The 1800 machine may be enjoying the lion's share as the ADSL card is under it's direct control.

I have seen other enquiries the same, and don't believe there is an easy solution.

I share an ADSL line, and all seem to shre OK, but I don't share it via an internal card, it used a router on the network so all PC's seem to have equal status.

105603 2002-12-13 10:54:00 When I first hooked my router up it was connected to one pc via USB and the other via ethernet. The USB pc had a very slow connection at times. WHne I connected both via ethernet they're both nice and fast crozier (2004)
105604 2002-12-13 11:01:00 what sort of speeds? mayby one has had the mtu values tweaked which can make one pc slower than the other. tweak'e (174)
