| 105446 | 2002-12-12 08:46:00 | Hello, I have windows 98 and a ASUS CUSI-M motherboard and am wanting to boot using my second hard drive rather than the windows C: I managed it once by hitting <escape> during booting, but I cant manage it again. I which point during booting should <escape> be struck? Or this there a way to make it easier for the <escape> to be recognised? Phil. |

| 105447 | 2002-12-12 09:34:00 | Is your second hard drive primary or slave? which IDE slot? Doesn't your bios give you fairly wide options about which device/drive to boot from? - some do, some don't, depends on how up-to-date it is. What's the vintage of the computer? |

| 105449 | 2002-12-13 01:48:00 | I'd cheat. Make a DOS floppy. Boot from that and have an AUTOEXEC.BAT which immediately goes to the second HD. The only way I can think of which would let you boot from the second drive is that you introcuced some noise into the system, so the C: drive didn't appear to be bootable. It looks like an accident, not something "designed". :D |

| 105451 | 2002-12-13 08:56:00 | I managed to get to the "select boot device" again and I thought it was the [F12] key which did it during botting, but again I cant reproduce this. Surely someone knows the key stroke to get the "select boot device" menu, its the charactor based menu which lists all the devices which are bootable and you get to choose. |

| 105453 | 2002-12-13 21:08:00 | On phoenix it's Delete. But i don't get what u want, u want to get into BIOS? or are u already in BIOS and wish to enter the submenus? If u want to get into BIOS just play with the "f" keys (f1,f2,f3.....etc) upto the"DEL"(delete) key. If u want to enter the submenus in BIOS just hit "ENTER" on the keyboard. By the way the "Select Boot Up Device" menu is in the "Advanced CMOS Settings" (i think, can't remember, but i'm pretty sure). cheers, v.K |

| 105454 | 2002-12-13 21:28:00 | DEL gets me the bios, but cant select a one off alternative boot device via BIOS and dont want to change the boot sequence over and over. Ill try the [F9] key again while starting up, I know its one of these keys. But until then Ive downloaded a DOS622 boot image and using this my slave DOS HD becomes C: - great, but would rather use a keystroke during power on than a floppy. |
