| 105943 | 2002-12-14 11:08:00 | Hi I currently have a virtual CD-ROM assigned to H:, a CD-ROM assigned to I: and my CD-Burner assigned to J: How can I change the order that these are assigned? (Have already tried in Device Manager but the assigned letters a greyed out and cant be changed). Any suggestions appreciated. (Using WinMe) Thanks |

Click on "Disk Management" and you should be able to change the drive letters there. Just be careful as diskmanagement can do some nasty things if you tell it to. |

| 105946 | 2002-12-14 18:50:00 | The virtual CD drive was created when I installed CDRWIN. The reserved letters are not greyed out (I can change these). Its the box with the current letter assigned that I cant change. |

| 105948 | 2002-12-14 20:10:00 | Hey It's the reserved drive letters you want to change :D To have your CD-Rom assigned to D: tell the reserved drive letters to start at and finish at D: Same goes with your other drives that you want changed.. (just ensure that the drive letters are different :P) Reserved drive letters work on if your CD is reserved D: to F: and a new device comes in (another harddrive maybe) then the harddrive takes D: and the CD takes E: however by telling it that it can only start and finish at D: the new device will take the next free letter A reboot is required and then your problem should be fixed CyberChuck |
