105780 2002-12-13 19:12:00 Hey

I personally like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 Professional - it's great (resource hungry though :o) but made realistic by the use of a joystick and gaming pedals...

105781 2002-12-13 21:31:00 Thanks for that -
didnt think about resources - got heaps of memory - but low on processing power
Also - getting a joystick and pedals is an extra I never thought about - still got to find a new interest - and this could be it
regards, Simon

105782 2002-12-13 21:54:00 If you can find a copy of MS Flight95, it takes only a fraction of the room and resources that 2000/2002 takes and will run good on even average video. It lacks the Helicopters but comes with a Cesna, Learjet, 737, and a couple of others and will play quite happily with a suitable joystick minus the foot pedals. It is a good introduction pending moving upto the more resource hungry versions. duckyduck (197)
105783 2002-12-13 22:24:00 Simon, you don't say what OS you are using but check out the joystick is OK for your system. About half of MS Sidewinder models were only WIN 95 or 98 and are no longer supported for upgrading to XP. A hunt on the MS knowledge base under joystick will give you a current list. The other thing to be wary of is some come with Win 98 software and if you have XP you should check that it is OK to use the Win 98 CD as some instal automatically in XP. FrankS (257)
105784 2002-12-13 22:40:00 Try Flight sim '98. It has a lot of 737's, and other assorted planes. There is the inclusion of a rickety ride in a helichopper.
I'm finding the control with the keyboard a little edgy, and am having trouble landing:p

105785 2002-12-14 04:29:00 Depending on your hardware, I'd have to recommend one of the versions of MS Flight Simulator although its a simulator not a shoot him up (well out of the sky) although Combat Simulator fills that gap. You can get lots of free addons (planes, scenery, clouds) so if you get bored with the set of planes that come with it, you can download lots more (www.flightsim.com). You can even fly with your mates on the internet (assuming they are not out getting real social interaction!!).

If you have a processor around 500MHZ 128MB RAM and a reasonable graphics card (32MB RAM??) try for FS 2000.
