105927 2002-12-14 09:48:00 Hi all.
I've had this problem for a while.
I am using Internet Explorer 5.5 and Windows 95 on a fairly old computer (a P133), and on visiting certain sites a window will pop up and say, "you have chosen to download a file from this location. Do you want to open this file from it's current location, or save this file to disk (radio button options). It's like it's trying to download a file, but it happens straightaway when I type in the address. The two sites that do this are www.guitarworld.com and www.trillian.cc. What do they have in common? How do I fix this? It's not like they need a plugin or anything, and they load fine in Netscape.
It also happened with IE 5.0

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Fletch

105928 2002-12-14 12:24:00 I was expecting that these errors would be due to your computers inability to display server side page... but those sites use static HTML pages. It could be some software you installed, but otherwise I'd have to put it down to the age of the software you're using. An upgrade might fix this, or else try reinstalling IE and letting it set everything to default options. agent (30)

You could try what Agent says and in IE go to Tools>Options>Advanced and click the Restore Defaults button.

If that doesn't work you might like to try an Internet Explorer Repair.

Age of your software won't have much, if anything, to do with this. Your browser is recent, and so it should be able to display the pages fine. You system isn't really powerful enough to handle an upgrade much anyway.

But I do concur, try reinstalling/repairing IE and set everything to default options.
