105912 2002-12-14 09:09:00 Just after formatting my PC, and changing into a FULL Windows Xp Pro computer (used to be Win98se with WinXP), I have not being able to have sound. It says that no sound output (and input) device can be detected. How do I get it to detect it?

I have tried adding new hardware which does not work....etc.

I used to run before without sounds because I was normally in Win98, but now I need sound, because I am now using a "fulltime" WinXP system.

Please help, many thanks,

I'm using WinXp Pro

Many thanks,

105914 2002-12-14 09:40:00 Hey

Have you tried getting the latest drivers from the manufacterers website?
Have you made sure that the card isn't conflicting with another device?

105915 2002-12-14 19:18:00 It also looks like it is a ALS400 (Avance Logic) according my my receipt. Doesn't seem to be many around and none for Windows XP. Could it be a mistake in typing ALS4000?

Many thanks,

Try the above link for drivers for the ALS400, I found no specific WinXP drivers but I did locate drivers for Win2000.

It is possible in some cases to use Win2000 drivers in place of specific WinXP drivers, if it does work you may get full use of the card or you might get most but not all of the available functions.

Worth a look see.
