106238 2002-12-15 06:48:00 In win 98 you could use customize your folder views (with html templates or something). Has XP removed that feature?.

Anyway my real question is this. I have a Samsung CD writer as E:\
When ever I view files on e:\ they are separated into categories. ie. if sorting by size the list of files is put under headings. small files, medium files, large files etc.
When sorting by name the files are broken up alphabetically under letter headings, Files beginning with a b c etc
This only happens for E:\ or subdirectories of E:\.

I want to enable this view mode for folders on my hard drive c:\ and dvd drive d:\ but can't see how to do so.

106239 2002-12-15 08:32:00 When you have your E: drive open viewing the files as you like them, go to Tools>Folder options>View and click on the button for "Apply to all folders".

I haven't fiddled with any customised folder views but I think the Win 98 feature is still there, maybe enhanced. If no one else can advise you a little exploring wouldn't hurt. Win XPs Help might have something about it. :-)

No, neither Windows XP nor Microsoft have removed that feature.
