106389 2002-12-16 07:17:00 Thanks for asking Baldy - I just had a bad run-in with Clear.Net (who I've been with for years)... three times in a month in fact, so I was about to ask about Slingshot but forgot to ask :) so you've done it for me, and so now I'm considering moving over. Hey, for an extra $2 a month I'll never be overcharged again :)

Mike.

I have never heard of that before. How do they do that Roofus?

106391 2002-12-16 08:05:00 "Cheap" ISPs may just do what xtra do and put a slow down on the ports P2P applications use to "protect the network" (from what i dont know, maybe to protect it from being used or something)

106393 2002-12-16 08:18:00 you could easily see if there is a connection problem in your area Baldy, by phoning the number, it's 0867 30000 here and may be the same where you are...
It doesn't sound like you'll be getting the problems we have had here though, by eveyone elses comments-- wish I could get unlimited time for 16.95 and it looks like you could get cheap overseas phonecalls too!

catch ya

106394 2002-12-16 08:24:00 no problems at all. The connection I get here in Auckland is very good, 52.0 kbps everytime. Well it does depend on the area. A friend in Howick can only get max 40 kbps.
I recommend them for everyone.

106396 2002-12-16 09:43:00 Hi again.

Regarding Roofus' suggestion about banning MP3's, just got this email back from Slingshot

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your email. In reference to your question we do not block any downloads to any locations, however if your connection is found to be idle (no internet activity) during peak times you may get disconnected.

If you have any further queries please feel free to call our accounts line on (09) 915 2000

Yours Faithfully,

106397 2002-12-16 17:17:00 pretty much all isp's have that policy, just set your mail client to check for new messages every 10mins or so.

cheers Steve

Every minute is even better . :D

Baldy, E3 cripple the downloading of music somehow - it's painfully slow at busy times of the day . Like, an hour for one miserable song . :-( And at off-peak times it's still slow .

Slingshot sounds good, give them a go . :-)
