106319 2002-12-15 18:56:00 Hey

I installed trillian to manage my MSN Messenger and ICQ accounts. It worked fine for 2 days then after that it buggered up.
I can receive messages on it but as soon as I start typing something to be sent the screen goes really funny, it comes up with all these "|||||||||||" (but they're different sizes so it looks like heaps of barcodes)

I've tried uninstalling trillian, deleting its folder, reinstalling it. Same problem. I've tried uninstalling, deleting, reinstalling it and then putting the .74B patch over the top - same thing

Please Help

106320 2002-12-15 20:24:00 Ah, you have found some free software:D
What OS is that on....but that should not matter.
Is the rest of the system OK?:|
I know that when you start unin/reinstalling to many times, the system can become corrupted at the register (or somewhere). After several attempts with Mozilla:D:cool: I needed to reformat to get it going cleanly again.
My Trill. is working great, and I really love the moticon's.LOL(drums)(andmanymore)

106321 2002-12-15 20:35:00 Hey

Yeah - I do know what OpenSource is . . . My servers are [going] to run Redhat 8 . 0 (so expect a lot more threads from me :D)

The computer I'm running it on is a Windows ME (stop laughing . . . stop it . . . I CAN STILL HEAR YOU LAUGHING)

The only thing is as I'm using the family PC (mine's out for upgrades) I can't really format and reinstall everything every week . . .

106322 2002-12-15 20:50:00 I'm just ribbing ya:p
>>The computer I'm running it on is a Windows ME (stop laughing... stop it... I >>CAN STILL HEAR YOU LAUGHING)
I think therein the problem lies.

If I hadn't been able to get a cheap copy of XP then I would still be on ME - it came with the 'puter.
Don't do it every week (reformat) that would be crazy:p, instead only try to realize that the spoon isn't real-- ahem. --
If(when) the family PC needs a reformat, make sure it has another partition on it (for data etc).

106323 2002-12-15 21:01:00 Hmm...
Could it be the OS or could it be the computer... (your going to laugh when you hear this)... HP...
Maybe the slaves are trying to tell me something... Christmas Leave??

I've only needed to format the family PC twice now (and it's only 16months old).. Once was when I got the nimda virus and just said "F*** this.. Format" and the other was when I downloaded drivers for my modem from WindowsUpdate (learnt my lesson... NEVER download drivers from WindowsUpdate)

106324 2002-12-16 03:09:00 Also just tried using RegCleaner, and found nothing in the registry (must be one of the useful programs that actually understands the concept of a Full Uninstall . . )

Please Help Me

Seems a bit childish cyberchuck . Neither the OS nor the HP PC a comical . There are millions of prople around the world happily using both .

>Once was when I got the nimda virus and just said "F*** this . . Format"

While I appreciated that you used *** instead of the letters it still carries the same impact and many of us feel strongly about the use of such language in this forum . Please cut it out . I think it's really cool that several youngsters are starting to use this forum but let's not let it degenerate to a school yard .

An alternative to reformating and reloading windows every few days is to get the PC running sweetly then Ghosting an image to CD . You should find that a fairly basic WinME installation will fit on to only one or two CDs

106326 2002-12-16 04:25:00 Or - Turn on the System Restore if your HDD is large enough! Chilling_Silence (9)
106327 2002-12-16 04:32:00 Oh gee crozier, lighten up, it's nearly Christmas! I got a giggle out of this page - those boyz have a wicked sense of humour and they weren't harming anyone. :-)

CyberChuck it looks like Trillian just don't like you unfortunately. :-( I've heard of others who have not been successful with it so it's obviously not compatible with everyone's system. Real shame though as I think it's great.

Have you tried emailing Cerulean at all?

106328 2002-12-16 05:08:00 I had BIG probs with Trillian . . . . . . . So far I have found it to be the most quirky of my downloads .
