106052	2002-12-15 03:10:00	when i shutdown the puter its no go i have to press ctrl/alt/del and shut down explorer to turn it off. when i go to control panel and try and open internet options its no go also nothing in control panel will open. have run virus check nothing...adware also nothing..also when i bootup the registry checker keeps popping up ...any help greatly appreciated..am running win98...i suspect my daughters are not telling me all.	sonnii (2779)
106053	2002-12-15 03:51:00	Has this been happening for more than three days? If not you could try a registry restore - go to the Registry FAQ (link top right of this page) and find the instructions for restoring the registry.	Susan B (19)
106054	2002-12-15 08:15:00	Hey I doubt a virus would stop you from shutting down your computer... The whole point of them is so that you don't know what they're there... To me it sounds like a program not closing properly Start > Run and type "MCONFIG" (without the " ) click on the startup tab, and remove anything unnecessary from startup (if you don't know what it is I would reccomend leaving it) Programs like MSNMSGR - Microsoft Messenger service, ICQ - ICQ chat, and others can be removed though.. In theory you could remove everything from that list and your computer will still work fine Also, have you got a virus scanner?? - get a free online scan from http://housecall.trendmicro.com CyberChuck	cyberchuck (173)
106055	2002-12-15 09:07:00	go here (http://dipstick01.hostnz.co.nz) and look up the section on startup. I put in links to various sites that explain what all those mysterious sounding programs are. What version of windows are you running?. 98se had a well known problem with shutting down and if you have not been doing the windows updates it could also be this rearing its annoying head.	dipstick01 (445)
