106758 2002-12-17 02:54:00 Hello. I know this question has been asked before and I have searched the archives without finding a definitive answer.
The problem is when I click on download links on webpages displayed using IE6, I get a blank page displayed with a graphic placeholder icon in the top LH corner. The download dialog box never appears. Sometimes, but not always, I can get what I'm after using a right-click on the link and selecting Save target as.....
Can anyone help with this problem? Thanks

106759 2002-12-17 02:58:00 sounds like you have or had a downloader app to download files instead of IE. tweak'e (174)
106760 2002-12-17 03:04:00 I have a Q as well. How do i disable Quicktime so it doesn't play MP3's in IE and instead I get a download box? For example clicking a link directly to the file in a mIRC or Messenger window won't give me a download box, instead it brings up an IE window and quicktime starts downloading it. :| I can't right click - save target as with mIRC or Messenger so that doesn't work. Yep... Also i can't find it in the quicktime options. Adam_with_HP (2601)
106761 2002-12-17 19:21:00 Thanks, tweak'e
Yes, I use Download Mage and that picks up the download if the click is directly on a file like exe or zip most times, but some links for download are a redirection to the download file and IE doesn't seem to like those at all.

It hasn't always been so and I wondered what may have changed and how to fix it. Maybe re-install IE6 is the answer?

106763 2002-12-17 21:18:00 Start>Settings>ControlPanel and double-click the QuickTime icon. Then
select "Browser Plugin" in the menu and click the "MIME settings" button. Double-click to select and deselect MIME types. A plus (+) sign indicates a particular MIME type will be handled by the plugin.
