| 106678 | 2002-12-16 23:01:00 | i think my mouse is dying. It is an optical intellimouse and sometimes its light just goes out and there is nothing we can do to get it going again except reboot. I have reinstalled drivers and swopped from usb to the other and back again. Could it be a program I have installed recently?? It seems to lock up in different programs though. Thanks | Jakeb (2156) | ||

This could happen if there is an internal fault either in the mouse or the USB controller. Easiest test would be to try another mouse. When you say you have swapped it from the USB to the "other" do you mean you have swapped it from USB to PS2 ports, or just between USB ports? Some USB mice have a PS2 adapter. If it fails on both USB and PS2 connection, would indicate a dead mouse. |
