106813 2002-12-17 08:19:00 I'm with you on that one Baldy -- that is outright theft and I personally don't think it funny at all either. Anyone half decent would have returned what they didn't pay for.

The chances are that the salesman would have lost his job over that before he even finished his first day.

106814 2002-12-17 08:26:00 Susan B/Baldy - I agree, but you've gotta admit that getting 16Gigs of RAM for $95 (Even US) is pretty darn good!

Crozier - Yup, Id think so, but surely he could login from home if need be...

Honeylaser - I agree too, hire somebody who knows about it, its like the firestone tires ad, not everybody is meant to sell the tires, like the kindergarten teacher. Some people just arent cut out for that kinda job with no background knowledge.

I think its funny, but wrong. I'd have kept 256 megs (Well, maybe a bit more for filling up the empty slots and sum for the mates PC) but returned the rest.

Its stil pretty funny if ya ask me, 16 gigs for the price of 256 megs

I didn't know as much as I do nowdays, but I wasn't put in a position where I could do something so silly.

106817 2002-12-17 08:45:00 Hmmmm....

I remember a long time ago.... About 40 years ago!!!

I went into a shop and bought something and handed over a 20 pound note. The salesperson gave me change for a 50 pound note. I told him that I only gave him 20!!

He told me that he was ALWAYS RIGHT and that I had given him 50. I had been travelling through a small town at the time and wondered for ages how he squared the till.

I knew I had only handed over 20 pound as I'd never actually seen a 50 pound note.

I got to the stage where I memorised the last five digits of the serial number on a note before I handed it over to ensure I could identify it after handing it to sales staff. I did get shortchanged a couple of times before that.

It's even worse now as when you hand over a note the salesperson hardly ever counts the change back when you receive it.

Buy a pack of ciggies with a $20.00 note and they say, "Here's your $8.90 change", instead of saying $11.10 and .90c is $12 and $3.00 is $15 and $5 is $20.00.

I'm sure some of the people on this forum know what I mean.

I found one here in Tokoroa a few months ago who would be about 18yrs old. His mother was into "Home schooling."

He did it exactly the right way and I didn't waste time getting to his boss and telling (the boss) that he had a good worker and why.

Yep... I know I've burbled on.... Memories out of the Ark so to speak.

106818 2002-12-17 08:58:00 LOL..... 40 years ago and 20quid...... you would almost get a lounge suite for that. Not quite, but you could have brought in those days eh? Baldy (26)

Half the kids can't count.
I go into a shop to buy two items at $3.45 and hand over a $10 note.
Mentally I go 3.5 x 2 = 7; 10-7=3 plus 10c. Change due $3.10. I know the answer before the kids have found the calculator let alone turned it on!

And yes, it's theft.

Although ethically not right, dont think it can be classed as theft.

Never mind...$6365 worth of RAM...can get a dream PC out of it and still have a grand of change left over :p

Yeah ebay seems a nice place to make some $$ out of it. How about Trademe NZ! ]:)

Legally it is classed as theft - he knew what was happening. However he'd more than likely get away with a caution because intent world be hard to prove.

106822 2002-12-17 11:16:00 Well you wouldn't want to make the new worker there feel incompetent by proving him wrong on the spot.

Anyway like most things on the internet there is a high chance that it is fake, sure it was printed in atomic but that doesn't really mean a great deal either.
