| 106668 | 2002-12-17 02:34:00 | I brought the Fujitsu a while back when i had little knowledge of quality PC hardware brands . I would never buy a Fujitsu drive again, nor reckonmend them . Not because of poor service or a bad product, but because the product seems weak and less professional . On the topic of harddrive wot brands would forum members recondmend? Currently i get the feeling that Maxtor and WD are the best? I've come to this conclusion from reading post on several american forums . But these forum don't even seem to acknowledge the exisitance of Seagate, except for there Cheetah range of SCSI drives . I read many local mags and there reviews of Seagate Barracuda drives seem good . I well aware that the Seagate Barracuda's IV's dont preform well in raid arrays . (have heard rumors that Seagate has fixed this problem) . IBM seems to have nearly dissapeared when it comes to harddrives . There seems to be a hope on the net that they will one day return to the high standards they once had . From where I'm sitting Maxtor seem the best bet for a cheap reliable drive . WD are that bit more expensive and unless your using the 8mb cache variant they dont provide any real preformance increase . What i'm trying to get at with this long winding baffle is "Are Seagate harddrive any good?" thanks for the replies P . S daninjapan quantum no longer exisit they were brought out by Maxtor |
